Curious as to what caused it.
Glad you handled it well. I would be going ape s--t.
These bikes dont have connecting rod bolts. Also, the oil pan is under the trans, not the engine.

Glad to hear the bike is back on the road! I had some bad luck myself lately. On Sunday my WG broke a valve spring at 70mph (no serious damage) and my chopper left me stranded thursday when the headlight socket shorted out and blew the main fuse on the bike.

Is that Intermountain HD in SLC?

Glad to hear you are back on the road brother. Stay safe over the crazy weekend. To many intoxicated cage drivers running around like idiots.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you. I'm still waiting on some bearings to rebuild my tranny. Been down for a few weeks already ... UHG!

Recently I was riding, doing about 55 mph with the wife on-board. There was a tow truck in front of me with a wreck on it's flat bed. He hit a bump in the road and I saw some sort of a piece of small scrap metal sail off the back. It hit the road and scooted toward me. Sure enough BAM and it was all over.

I pulled off looking for a broken or damaged something. I thought of damage to the oil pan / oil filter, an impact with the regulator or frame, or even a tire or hose sliced.

Nothing I could see.

I got lucky. I know it could have been deadly!

Yes, the dealer is Intermountain Harley of Salt Lake. I wasn't able to get a pic of the pan unfortunately as they had already thrown it away...they had it fixed before I even had a chance to call them and tell them to save it for me. Labor ended up being 45 min which was very reasonable I think. I put on over 300 miles over the weekend so was really glad to get the bike back on Friday. Hopefully you guys with similar bad luck can get yours up and going soon!
