Default Mysterious rattle

My '03 Super Glide has developed an annoying, and disconcerting, rattle over the last month and has gotten worse. I know this is probably a long shot, but has anyone else had a similar thing happen? It's comming from somewhere below me and occurs when I ride over a bump, no matter how small. It's hard to be more specific than that, sounds like part of the chassis and has gotten worse. I can't find anything loose. Has anyone had a similar problem, a spontaneous and persistent rattle like that? My Dyna has 16,000 mi.
Thanks

Try to tighten up your gas tank mount's, sometimes they can cause a clunk sound when going over bumps. Also check your fork stem nut, look in the service manual for fall away adjustment.

Did you just have the oil changed? If so you might want to check the rubber bumper for the Jiffy Stand. Mine was twisted out of place to access the drain plug on the last service. If was rattling over the smallest bumps, on exceleration and making me think the IPB was going out.

Twisted it down and no more rattle.

Most likely the cause is one of the above, but check your motor mounts as well.

Check your exhaust support bracket too. Mine rattled loose some time ago and actually snapped a bolt in the tranny housing. I had to extract it to replace the bolt, took a while.

Kick stand snubber is typical. One other thing: a faint higher-pitched rattle from near the gas tank vexxed me until I discovered that it was the steering lock. I keep a trimmed piece of black tape on it which, at a distance, visually goes well with the black frame. Happy holiday, all.
