All the above are good places to look. Just start on one side of the bike and start checking for loose hardware and go all around the machine.

I came up with another rattle up front. Checked usual spots. Ended up it was the bolt for the pivot on brake pedal (Kury forwards)came loose.

Check youre strut covers. I know you said it sounded like underneath but I dismantled the whole bike before finding that.

My mystery rattle from 'somewhere up front' during downshift wasn't the bike at all - turned out it was a certain decel vibration range on my old helmet face shield!

Mine is my shifter linkage...kinda isolated it today.

Oh, by the way...it was the tank. The bolt at the back of the tank wasn't tight and it would rattle over bumps. Funny how sound is....sounded like it was comming from down low on the bike....
