Default Throw shocks away,Hard Tail Struts!

Has anyone replaced their shocks with these hard tail struts? Did you like the look of it? Not sure if I want to due to living in a winter city(potholes)!

The wheel will just wiggle from side to side, as the swingarm bushings are still there.

I wouldn't do it personally.

It looks nothing at all like a proper hard tail frame so personally I can't see the point... But that's just me....

In the 60's I installed a pair on a Triumph. In 45 years I haven't had the urge to do it again.

Few years back my buddy got hit from behind while driving his twins to school in their minivan. Kids were OK but Rick's neck hurt pretty bad so they took him in for a check up.

Turns out they found bone chips scattered along and up and down his spine.

Rick rode a hardtail for 20 years.

No Thanks....

Ed, if you want a rigid...build a rigid. Don't just slap a couple of rods in a place and call it a day. If you don't have the proper know-how (...I don't either), then seek out a pro that does.

from Ed "anyone replaced their shocks with hard tail struts?"

If you are willing to stretch out the front forks by changing the rake/length, put on a "springer" seat, and drop the rear tire pressure to about 10psi, then maybe you could live with the increased harshness the ride is going to give you. Most likely, though, you'll just want to leave the bike parked in the garage. If you really want to "slam" your bike, better to do it with shorter shocks. Ride safe.
