Default Air Cleaner Upgrade? Not many good options...

I just put on some V&H slip on's and it's already affected the low-end torque. (but sound great) It does not seem to accelerate as quickly as stock mufflers and it requires more throttle to start moving from a dead stop without dying. I didn't think slip on's with quiet baffles would have had this effect, but it has. So, thinking I might need to get the whole stage 1 setup and re-tune the bike. I don't want to tune it before getting air cleaner only to have to tune it again.

This is a 2007 96ci FXDWG. I've searched ebay and google, and there just don't seem to be many performance intake options that I can see. Am I searching for the wrong thing?

Also, I want to clarify terminology. Is a Stage 1 setup exhaust, air cleaner and re-tune the computer, right?

So anyone have any options on an air cleaner and how do I go about getting the computer tuned? Do I have to go to Harley for this?

Thanks,

Yes, you are correct about what a stage 1 is.

For Air Cleaner:

Look for Screaming Eagle, S&S, Big Sucker, Heavy Breather. Or just look at all the bikes on here. Most of them have after market intake.

Fo your info, I have:

V&H pipes
Screaming Eagle Race Tuner
SE high flow intake (but I am going to get a K&N filter I think)

I have the same bike. I purchased a package from Fuel Moto. It included a Power Commander III USB and a Screamin' Eagle intake with K&N filter for $319.

I realize there are better options out there for tuners and whatnot, but this suited my needs at the time, and I'm still very happy with the upgrade.

Well, I'll probably go with the Screaming Eagle air cleaner kit. But, the next step is a hard one...

Does SERT mean Screaming Eagle Race Tune? I'm just guessing here.

My 2011 FXDWG:

VH Straight Shots
Arlen Ness Big Sucker
Power Commander III

I picked up a little over 11 hp on this setup once it was set and dynoed at the shop.

The Big Sucker is nice and simple... a K&N filter with a nice chrome disc over it. Buy the srub filter for $25 bucks as well. It keeps the main air filter cleaner longer.

+1 on the Big Sucker with a simple chrome cover. Nice clean classic design and a lot cheaper than most air cleaners out there. They all do the same thing. More money doesnt mean more performance.
