Just a suggestion: since you have to replace one look for a set of the -09 versions, 54565-09 if you are using standard length............they can run higher pressures than the old ones. It's not that difficult to find a nearly new set of those for $50-80. Mine only cost $52 and were near new.
this is what i'm gonna try to do.
problem is, I've seen two sets of -97c's end today on ebay for over $60

unless you need them NOW...........I'd hold out for the 09's - I understand that the newer ones also have improved (stiffer) damping that the older ones and ride slightly firmer because of it but that would probably be better for you. Just because someone has paid more for an older product, doesn't mean that you can't get them at a good price. Check local shops too, they may have some sitting around.
Here's a set
thanks bombay. I'm going to get 09's but i need them soon. bike is my dd & the stock shocks are so worn, or i'm so fat, i bottom out on everything - bad.
I got a set of those china copies you can have for postage it you want - but be aware they are the lowered versions and would likely need to the oil changed or as I suspect have oil put in them in the first place. I took them off because they let the stock exhaust support bracket drag on the slightest little bumps although they never really bottomed whether solo or 2 up.
