Had to do my front mount with about 4000 miles on my 07. If they are installed and shimmed correctly they should last a lot longer.

Can someone define "shimmed" in regard to this?

I did mine at 9k miles, just over 2 yrs old. I probably should have done it sooner. I did put the shims back in to help lengthen the life of the mount.... hopefully.

Here's the shimmed motor thread!! It does make a difference, unless you have a really bad mount. When I installed a new mount with the shims I was able to read signs about a 1/4 mile behind me in my mirrors at 70mph. I couldn't do that before.

3000 miles on my first mount. Bike had a high frequency vibration, similar to a weed whacker. Afterwards, great!! I could read billboards through the mirrors it was so smooth. Gradually started buzzing again. I fixed mine by removing some of the rubber between the T-Mount and rubber isolator. Was going to shim mine when installing my Positrak, but did not need to. I've read many discussions on this issue. Everyone seems concerned about the pre-load on the rubber isolators and are looking for a solution to stop this vibration. The spacer gives the rubber isolator a little room to not hit the T-Mount which then transmits engine vibration to the chassis and into your hands and feet. There are lots of posts on this issue. Good Luck!

I probably should have mine looked at. I can put up with it and it ain't all that bad but I remmeber when I first got it that it seemed completely smooth out on the highway and you could see everything in the mirrors great. Now I get more vibration but not bad enough to bitch yet. Close to 30,000 miles on the original mounts.

27k ish I believe, showed itself by way of my 200mm tire rubbing the fender (tight clearance). Front mount was shot and allowed side movement. Replaced both front and rear mounts along with installing a true trac to keep the side motion in check.
