Dealership trade in offer....opinions please...
So the wife and I went to our local dealership intending to just browse around. (always starts off that way huh?) Looking into getting her a 1200 low and I found some touring bikes I'm interested in. Sales-monkey showed me some of the ins and outs of the touring bikes, and showed my wife a recently traded in Sporty. Sales-monkey had his manager go out and take a look at my 2007 Street Bob for a trade in evaluation.
They offered me $8500 for my bike.
Here are the details:
2007 Street Bob
7500 miles
forward controls
QD windshield
HD Leather windshield bag.
Sundowner solo and 2-up seats,
engine guard with highway pegs
Finned collection derby and timer covers
Pacific Blue Denim paint (rare color, only 852 made for US market)
Manager said I could keep the QD shield, bag, engine guard and pegs, and 2-up seat and still give me $8500.
So what say ye, wise druids of the Dyna forum?
Good deal?
Decent deal?
WTF are they thinking?!?
Thanks!

I traded in a 2005 heritage softail for 9800 dollars and bought my 2011 Street Bob and I love it!! I might try to sell your bike privately and put a hold deposit on the bike you want for a month. if your bike does not sell you could then trade it in for the 8500. Seems a little low too me for your bike; but I do know dyna's do go for cheaper than other models. but if you are happy with the deal and get the bikes you want out of it , then go for it.

The best way to know if you're getting a fair price for your bike is to compare what it's street value is in your area. Browse craigslist, ebay for what similarly configured bikes are selling for. You could also check that dealers inventory to see what similarly configured bikes are selling for.
