I have a 1994 DYNA and would like to change the rear fender, I would like to shorten the fender, and mount the number plate below the rear light, and this will be done by one of the following options.

Buy aftermarket item, any ideas of who sells them will be welcome?
Get a cheap old sporster fender (same width) weld up holes cut up and fit.
Get hold of dyna fender and cut up although in the UK I can’t find an old dyna fender.

Fabrication is no problem for me as long as the basic shape is right; I do not have equipment to make one from scratch, I am considering fabricating supports which could be made to be integral to the fender possibly hidded on the inside, I do however need to be able to keep a 2 up seat therefore it can’t be too short.

I would be interested to see what others have done to give me some inspiration for this project.

Had my taillight hole filled and fender cut level below the struts, and got an all-in-one Cateye lic/lites/sigs with universal mount from Russ Wernimont. I felt that going beyond horizontal would throw water up the rear tire and look too 'chopped'...

 

Post some pics of your current setup and I'm sure some of the fabricating geniuses on this site will offer ideas. In the meantime there are at least 100 different ways people here have done this. Search through the thread for customized super glides and you'll see quite a few ideas.

 

i left mine full length, but filled tail light and license plate bracket holes. Then went with a Joker Machine side mount taillight.
