Default Can you polish up powder-coated cases?

Hi. I have a Street Bob but I really like the satin chrome finished casings on the Fat Boy Low and I'd like to polish off the powder coating on my casings and have them satin chromed. Does anyone know if that is possible with the late model bikes? I suspect that the move away from polished alloy casings to both the grey and black finished casings was part of a Motor Company money-saving exercise, and I'm not sure that the new alloy will be high enough quality to hold a shine. Thanks folks.

You would have to remove the powdercoating of course. You can use paint stripper and it works well. As far as polishing them you will be dealing with bare aluminum unless you apply some kind of sealant so oxidation will always be an issue. You can also just buy the satin covers from the MoCo. The cam cover is interchangeable as is the primary so long as you don't have mid controls.

That's the problem. I do have mid controls and don't want to change to forwards.
