Default help w/ windshield on 1977 low rider

hey guys, looking to put a hd windshield on 1977 lowrider, but not sure of whats compatible... theres talk about 39mm forks, not sure whats stock on my bike. i dont like the windvest or aftermarket winshields, just want a hd full size "police style" windshield on my bike. is the new hd detachable windshield gonna fit my bike? i thought sportster and dynas (except wideglide) all were compatible? any years that arent compatible with my 1977?

i have the hd windshield from 1977 mounted on the bike (my dad thought it was the sportster windshield- he bought the bike new in 1977 and had the windshield put on), but the chrome "windshield frame" is scratched and rusting and the winshield is scratched and delaminated, so if i could find a complete winshield with frame and mounting, it'd be preferable.

lemme know your thoughts. thanks in advance!

I "thought" those Shovels had 35mm forks. You probably will have to find something used on ebay. I haven't seen a full size tombstone for FX Shovels in decades but JP cycles might just have something like that aftermarket. Otherwise a handlebar shield will be your best bet. HD stopped making Shovel accessories 20 years ago.

Maybe check www.shovelhead.us
They are the holy grail of Shovel info.
Remember, this is a forum that thinks Evo's are classics.... LOL!
