What is this and why is it covered in oil?
Should I be concerned? Noticed a long time ago, but it seems worse now...In case you can't tell from the picture, it's behind the front tire.

its your voltage regulator, and when the motor oil is changed it will normally get on there when taking the oil filter off

That is almost as filthy as Oprah's *** after a Taco Bell feast. Hopefully it doesn't smell as bad though...

wash that area real good and keep an eye on it. if oil gets on there before the next oil change, your filter could be leaking.........and no Im not saying to clean your bike more...LOL

The oil is supposedly not very good for the rubber on the motor mount which is located under the regulator as shown in your pic. So yes clean it.

That's a sensitive area ... you should keep it clean .... LOL
Spray some Bike Bright on there and hose it off
