Default Fat Bob catalyst

Is it possible to remove the catalyst from the collector pipe on an 2011 Fat Bob? I like the stock header pipes and plan to wrap them and add slip-ons but would like to lose the cat material.

Some are beating it out, some are drilling into it. Try a search and you find out all you want.

Just installed the Fat Bob exhaust on my Street Bob, but lucky for me no cat. But the SB had them in the mufflers.

An alternative to beating up your stock header pipe to eliminate the cat is to purchase a pre-owned take-off from an earlier year F-Bob. I found an '09 "open" header on ebay that was a direct fit for my '010 F-Bob. A big plus is I still have the stocker in case CA ever mandates annual smog checks for bikes. Good luck with your project.

Does the bike get much louder when the cat is removed or a catless header is installed?

I think it will depend on what is behind it. Not 100%, but just like a car and the Cat Back systems that you can install and make them sound better.

I know with the clean head pipe, the BCT Baffles, and gutted muffler. 1000 times better!!!!!

I seem to recall folks saying that the 09's were when they started putting the cats in. Did you have the cat removed out of yours?
