The little tapered orange foam ones work fine. I lost most of my hearing in the AF, I can't afford to lose any more. For distances I ride with the plugs in.

If you ride with music, I've heard that the Skull Candy series are pretty nice.

I had a set of silicone ones made at one of the bike rally's. You can definitely get a boatload of the foam throw-away's cheaper, but the ones that were made specifically for my ears just fit better. I think it was $60 when I had mine done.

interested if anyone has tried out the sonic defenders earpro by surefire? they look like they might fit real well. i'm just thinking if they're good enough to use when shooting, they gotta work for riding just fine.

+1 to Hearos

I picked up a pack of these when in California recently. Not sure if I can get them back east yet, but they are some of my favorite of all the different types I have used over years of using plugs for work, concerts, and now riding.

Really I'd prefer ear muffs. I guess I could wear a chainsaw helmet, it would even have a screen for bugs, but I'm not aware of any DOT approved versions, unfortunately.
