Default Primary Oil Change

O.k this is about the proper way to fill the Primary after you drain it the service manual never says either to have the bike level or be on the jiffy stand so what should it be?

Level, or you won't get it all in. Comes roight up to the bottom of the derby cover opening. I have someone help and have them lean the bike just slightly to the right.

My manual says to fill in an upright position. I do that and fill so the oil is touching the bottom of the clutch pack.

I put a wood block under the jiffy stand to level the bike, make sure you have someone holding on the right, sh*t happens.

Drain it and then just put in a quart.....This should not be getting so complicated.

I know but when you talk to people half say level and half say jiffy stand. The service manual doesn't state anything for that job but when you take the front primary cover off it states to put the bike level.

If you can get it in there with the bike on the jiffy stand you posses powers that would be short of amazing. Either way just get a quart in there and ride. It's not rocket surgery or brain science.

The manual only suggests doing it upright so you minimize the opportunity for the oil to overflow. If you can get a quart in with it on the jiffy stand, then you'll be fine. I usually put a 2x4 under the jiffy stand when I do mine. You'll want someone on the other side of the bike if you do that, though.
