OK, I put the stock 45/190 jets back in and turned the mixture screw out 2 turns. I will see if that helps. If I double my mileage, I guess I'll have to live with the slow warm up. I know I can't live with 23 MPG!

With a stage 1, typically no jetting change is needed, but, an adjustment to idle mix and either a new needle or washers under stock needle are required. http://www.harley-performance.com/cv...nce-parts.html these guys sell the best in tuning kits, parts for the carb, and you could try their needle only which is a very good product. I would install their needle vs the 88 sporty Needle(common replacement) or stock with washers to raise it up.

Actually I have that needle in there. I put it in when I changed the jets from stock. I left it in when I put the stock jets back in because I didn't want to take the carb off to change the needle back. I figured I would try it for a tankfull first. Of course it's supposed to storm this week so I don't know how much riding I will get in. Thanks for all the help.
Update: With the stock jets back in and no change in riding style I got just over 31mpg on the last tankful. That's probably about right for the hilly Pittsburgh neighborhood where I live.
Much better than you were getting, but your MPG still sound low to me.

Dang!!! I pity you fella's with those 96CI motors......My bike, 1998 Dyna Convertible got the 80 EVO. I just returned from a 1850 mile four day weekend, running Montana Interstate most of the way and Averaged 58 MPG. Guess the EPA has screwed that up for the modern boys real good.
You know, I expect I would be in the 40's anywhere else or if I did any highway riding. My 2007 Silverado truck only gets 10MPG on a good day in Pittsburgh!
