You are welcome...share some pics of the process if you are cutting...let us know what tools (blades, etc) you use. Thanks

Good video , thank you
Here was my process

Started by using my trailer to elevate the front end.

Wedged the shift arm behind an engine bolt to hold it and used this tool to start cutting. Its a 24t hacksaw blade with a holder available at any big box store. Taped both ends and the frame of the bike.

Took about a half hour cutting from the bottom. This was taken from underneath and as you can see not a scratch. I was able to cut all the way thru the shaft. You can see where I taped the frame.

Next is to remove the primary cover and put one on without the hole by putting a bolt thru where the shaft was.
stainless 1/2 x 3-1/2 bolt with teflon washer thru shaft. Nylon lock nut and red thread lock on the back.

Done

Thanks for posting. These posts are what most of us are on the forums for. I was thinking about forward controls and now I am armed with the knowledge to do the job.

I think someone on here has a brand new wrinkle black primary cover that does not have a hole in it. It was probably made for a Night Train or some other bike with stock forwards.

Regardless, thanks for the vid. I will be taking some of this advice when/if I decide to go with forwards. I am going to run highway pegs for the rest of this riding season to decide if I want to go with forwards full time or not.

Does anybody know if this procedure WOULD NOT work on a 2011 Dyna? The HD controls kits are different.

Thanks

i pulled mine apart with 200 miles. after destroying the chain tensioner ($100) and buying a socket and snap ring pliers i came out $20 ahead of what the dealer cost to install them. the video is great and i totally wish it was up a year ago!!! but im left with the experience and the satisfaction of knowing i could do it again!!

I do not know about the 2011 Dyna's. Sorry...

Thanks for posting the pics of how you jacked the bike up. This makes it so much easier to get a good cutting angle. If you can't jack up the bike it still works but a jack is best.

Keep this post going...help out our brothers looking to do the FC mod.

If anyone did a video on how to install Forward Controls please post it to this thread. That would complete the one-stop thread for forward controls install. Also, if anyone has a video of the primary pull process please post it so members can compare the processes and decide which is right for them. I saw some videos on Youtube but they weren't very good. Thanks
