Default Steering head nut cover

Is there a way to get the cover off the nut on the triple clamp adjustment with out buying the HD tool?

Thanks Russ

If it's too tight to do it by hand you can use a strap wrench or one of those grip things used for opening jars. If that doesn't work hit the gym and workout those forearms. J/K

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know it was threaded. Now maybe I can get the clunking noise out the front end.

What year is the bike? I believe '06 bikes had a problem and the fix was a different bearing.

Put some rubber gloves on of use the wifes jar lid remover thingie. And check that both bolts on the fuel tank are tight - might not be the front end.

The cap spun right off with the jar opener.

The bike is a 07 Lowrider, built 05/07. Update?

I checked the front tank bolt. I will check the back bolt. I also checked out inside the headlight. There is something making a metal on metal sound in the front end. I read it could be the triple clamp adjustment.

Could be your jiffy-stand clattering against the frame. Check to see the rubber bumper is properly located.

Mine was making a clunking noise, I could have sworn it was a fork tube, dealer re-adjusted the head bearing and cinch bolts on tree, quiet as a mouse now.

Sounds like steering head nut needs adjusting. I had same problem.
