I did the sears mod too and I still have to put a 2x4 under the back wheel and it still scrapes a bit putting it under, and it hits the kickstand and lays a bit on the oil pan. I can jack it up but i get more and more nervous everytime I lift it. I have a 2007 SB and its not lowered, has stock suspension.

You just grab the handlebar and tip the bike more upright while pushing the jack under it.

No scraping or blocks necessary.

The only thing I can think is you must be doing something wrong.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950191000P this is the jack i have... it sits lower than the red jack so no modifications, super sturdy love it!

Can you post a pic of your bike on the jack? I have a '03. I can't position the Sears yellow jack in a were it's stable.

I don't worry anymore since I have this. I still have the HD rubber blocks for my floor jack though, working great!
