Dyna or sportster?

I'll chime in to,I also had a 1200C,rode it for a year and was ready to move up.My biggest concern was people were saying that the dynas were bigger and much slower than the sporsters, that I would'nt like it,etc, etc.Well,I now have a 2011 Superglide Custom and I would'nt trade it for nothing,I love this bike,I had a great time with my sporster, but I'll never go back to one now.

Sportster
If this is your first bike, stick to the sporster. I have owned sporsters since I was about 19. It helps you to get used to a Harley. The weight, manueverability, and overall ride of a Harley is different. Granted, on a sporster you will feel more bumps on the road, than a Dyna. The Dyna is a promotion from the sporster. Don't know your riding experience, but the sporster will get you started. I own a Dyna and a sporster and for me the Dyna is a hell of a bike to ride everyday. The current 6 speed is awesome on the highway.
I have heard that sporsters are good for high traffic areas like CA. I'm originally from El Paso and loved the weight and maneuverability when I went up the Franklin mountains and drove to Alamogordo.

i have a 00 fxd, no problems starting up in 30 degree weather. my buddy has a 09 nightster and has no problems starting up in the cold.
i dont think starting up would be an issue, but being comfortable would be. im 6'2 185 and i immediately went to a dyna, a sportster is just too small. you might outgrow a sportster, you might not. theyre cheaper, but they to me they lack in the real feel of a big twin. id get the dyna if i were you. my buddies are already kind of bored with their sporties
