The rear brake on my 07 is useless but i suspect its due to my sub par bake maintenance, I'm going to top off my master cylinder and give it another go before i smash it with with a hammer!

+1 on that. Not a cure but it is an improvement. Basically, these rear brakes are a bit crap.

Same issue on my '08 SB. But I read somewhere here that SB rear brakes suck, so maybe it's the design.

thank you all for the responses... kinda figured it was designed like this...
changing pads might be the way to go for better performance...

I think its normal on the FXDF. Mine has a lack of rear brake you get used to it the fronts are used a lot. My first bike in my avatar only had rear brakes. Mike

I used to have an 08 SB and the rear brakes sucked....I adjusted the linkage for a better pedal which helped a little bit I guess but they were pretty much useless. I have an 07 Low Rider now and the rear brake is amazing...Works so well that I do not need to use the front brake nearly as much....Not sure what the difference is as the brake system looks to be the same with the exception of the rotors, maybe that is it but in any case I am very happy with the way they are working which probably puts me in the minority as most seem to have an issue with the performance of their rear brakes....
