Default I'm pissed!!

Ok, so just to let you know I have mechanic skills and I am not a dumb ***, however I just took off my exhaust bolts to change and put my new exhaust on and two of the nuts that I took off wont thread on, what the #@%^^? Has this happened to anyone else before? I don't want to try and push past the hard part for fear of stripping my header stud, however I am stationed overseas and cannot just go to home depot to get a new nut or worse. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

check the threads for crap on it, be sure your head is seated in the motor all the way... and that you are going strait on at the nut

its just corrosion. clean the threads, lube them up and they'll go on.

Just another reason its a good idea to have a tap and thread kit in any working garage tool box. Glad you got it sorted

If you apply good old plain Milk of Magnesia to your exhaust bolts you will find them much easier to remove and plus it will keep the corrosion at bay. It's an old aircraft engine trick. Anti-seize works, but it's messier. Also, find you a set of taps and dies, use these to chase and clean your threads. Just get the most used sizes and keep them a roll.
