Default When to do stage 1 upgrade

I'll be bringing home my first Harley any day now, 2011 FXDWG, Sedona orange / black flames.
When is it appropriate to do the stage 1? Right out of the box or after some number of miles (after break-in)? Would it hurt or help if it's done too soon?

do it now. all this will do is let that engine "breathe" a little better.... remember that CVO models come with all this on a new bike

I have always done my stage 1 upgrade at the 1k break in service. I think waiting lets you enjoy the upgrade that much more. I don't have any mechanical reasons for this, usually takes about that long to free up some cash from buying the bike.

Umm, stage-1 means air-cleaner, exhaust and a tune. Doesn't matter if that tune is a stage-1 map at the dealer or a PowerCommand, it all falls under the name "stage-1".

OK - Today I got confused. I went to a Harley dealer to look at the Harley performance ventilator (screaming eagle air cleaner) and their expert told me that even though I have Rush slip-on's with 2 1/4" baffles that I will not need to "download" to the ECM upon adding the SE air cleaner. He said that since my 2011 has the oxygen sensor, the stock ECM will automatically compensate for the air cleaner and Rush slip-on's via feedback from the O2 sensor. He said the only thing the download to the ECM would change would be a new rev limiter setting. Anybody know if this is fact or fiction?
