When to do stage 1 upgrade
#12
OK - Today I got confused. I went to a Harley dealer to look at the Harley performance ventilator (screaming eagle air cleaner) and their expert told me that even though I have Rush slip-on's with 2 1/4" baffles that I will not need to "download" to the ECM upon adding the SE air cleaner. He said that since my 2011 has the oxygen sensor, the stock ECM will automatically compensate for the air cleaner and Rush slip-on's via feedback from the O2 sensor. He said the only thing the download to the ECM would change would be a new rev limiter setting. Anybody know if this is fact or fiction?
Of course, it will only keep the stock AFRs, which are lean. Plus you have spent $x00 on a load of shiny parts and are making little use of them other than to make noise and look pretty.

Road my 07 box stock for first 1k or so, then added pipes. In 08 added a A/C, PCIII and a dyno tune, much better. This spring, added Woods 555 cams and a dyno tune....much, much better. Next either head work, 103 c.i. kit or bump the compression a tad. It is fun to do 1 change at a time and feel and see the results, or lack there of. just my .02
