Thanks for the info. At least you care about getting the facts out, without the advertising hype. Some of the people I work with don't care what oil they run. This one Guy with a Suzuki runs Wal-Mart oil, and gets angry when you ask him what brand of coolant he runs in his radiator. ( It is a big Radiator.) He thinks it is an oil cooler. The bikes specs even states it is liquid cooled.

WildBill76... I Like to help when I can.... In my above post I mentioned oil changing at 2000-2005 miles intervals using 20-50 dino oil... it goes without saying an oil filter change at the same time... I'm sure everybody has heard the BS about changing the filter every other change.... to me that's just plain stupid and cheap... If you do mostly all city riding stop and go for short hops I'd change it a little sooner..... Like xxxflhrci posted..
...
Later Skee..
Just pick an oil rated for your application, a decent filter and change it when it needs it. You likely will never wear out your motorcycle.
Later Skee..

gbm.. The (Castrol Bean) reference was a joke notice I said DINO after it... can't have it both ways it's either the bean or from dinosaurs.. I was refering to Castrol GTX 20W-50, which is from BP Lubricants USA Inc., 1500 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ.. They came out with the GTX 20W-50 in the late '60's I used it in my 1978 Honda 750 SS when I road raced it in a Street Stock Class and my mechanic used it in my 1975 Kawasaki 900 Z-1B that I ran in Super Bike/Enduro Class I used the Castrol "R"-30 in the bike I'm sitting on which is a Yamaha TZ-250 with a 20:1 ratio running Cam 2 race gas... Loved the smell of that...I received my oil from Castrol free as most anyone who raced back then did plus you got continginces as well...I know they have sync oil and an MTX rather than the GTX type oil as well.. I'm an OLD FART that likes to stick with something that works for me...
In 1966, Castrol was acquired by British oil company Burmah, which was renamed Burmah-Castrol.
In 2000, Burmah-Castrol was acquired by the then BP Amoco plc (now renamed BP plc) Castrol branded lubricants continue to be sold around the world and are, in many countries, market leaders.

which oil is better synthetic or regular oil
which oil is better synthetic or regular oil
Synthetic oil will withstand more heat, more stress, more shearing and still protect your engine than any dino or bean based oil period.
You can change your oil every 100 miles. But if I get stuck in traffic on a 110º day I want Synthetic in my Low Riders crankcase.
