Default Have you guys ever had to replace the battery in your key fob?

So I was dumb and waited a little long between starts this winter and ran my battery down low.

I put it on the charger and back on the bike - the accessory lights are all bright and it looks normal, but nothing happens when I press the start button? when i switch the lever to "run" it makes the same noise and has the little orange light that you wait for before starting but nothing happens when I get to pressing start?

any ideas?

Could my battery in my key fob be done and maybe not registering?

I change my key fobs batteries every spring as part of my pre-ride check. My 05 tends to go into a "sleep" mode, I turn the ignition on then off. Then I cycle the alarm with my key fob.

My key fob battery went dead on me last fall while I was at the beach. If I remember correctly, sounds like that's your problem. I was lucky and just happen at a HD dealership when it happened.

Default FOB Battery Change

Just replaced batteries in btoh FOBs yesterday. When you have the new battery in, snap the case back and hold the button down until you get light flash. May take a few seconds. This re-syncs the FOB to the alarm. Do it with each FOB.

Best, Hankus

My experience is that the fob batteries die in about 3 years. The batteries are cheap and easy to replace. From now on I'll just put new ones in each spring and carry the fob override instructions with me wherever I go.

Not you FOB battery but to answer you question depend on how much you use it. About ever two years (2 for $5.00 at Walmart) Take you battery OUT and after charging it a couple days carry it to Walmart or AutoZone and let them run a test on it to see the reserve amps

I started noticing the alarm beeping while I was riding. A few days later when I wanted to push the bike out of my garage, the alarm went off... Figured the FOB battery was out. I just changed the battery and all was well.

As far as the FOB not working... when you dont have your FOB close the turn signals blink before the alarm goes off. I'm guessing you can still move your bike around without the alarm going off, so it's not the FOB.

Same here replaced both batteries after 3yrs. I did have a problem with my alarm last year though. Bike turned on, all lights and fuel pump primed but wouldn't start and the lights started to flash. At first I thought it was the fob but after having the gf bring me my spare it still wouldn't start. After messing with it by turning it on and off again and again it finally started. I stopped by my local dealer after getting it started and they checked it out and found the alarm system itself was going bad. They covered it under the warranty luckily cause it's like $330!
