Default 34.7 mpg?

Anybody think this is OK milage for a 2006 Street Bob? Heres the specifics this bike has a Thunderheader,K&N air filter and has been tuned on a dyno with sert.It has a little over 16000 mi and for all intensive purposes runs good but less than 35 mpg? I've actually owned a car that got better than that. Also does anybody know for sure if the 2010 tank is smaller than the 2006 Harleys website says the 2010 is 4.7 i thought the 06 I had was 4.9 but not sure.It just seems I'm having to gas up allot more than I used to and at these prices I'm not liking it.

Even when fully loaded for camping/touring and pushing a 40mph headwind, up and down hills, I've gotten down to 35. That does not sound right.

However we are still sipping winter blend fuel I'm betting.... my bike gets crap mileage when it's cold.

If you ride it like I do. 35 mpg is about right. 3.5 gallons/100 miles.

Default Mileage

Funny...I just posted this a couple of days ago in another section in reply to a mileage question. First off, I have a tach on my bike and use it religiously. The other day I went for a small ride a and filled up before I left. I purposely kept the rpm at around 2000 just cruising. After about 50 miles I filled up again and it worked out to 51.5 miles per gallon. I then rode the **** out of it on a longer route home. I haven't filled it up again yet but I am willing to bet it is no better than 32-35mpg. My point to all this is that your right hand really controls your mileage. Your results may vary.
BTW an 06 Streetbob has a 4.9 gal tank.

Depends how much you twist the wick as gas mileage. Driving ease with my 06 Night Train with thunderheader an k&n filter, dynoed with sepst get 41 in town an 46 hwy. My 09 Dyna with the sert runs 42 in town an 50 hwy but just uses a basic map. Either will jump to the 30 mile range with twisting the wick up.

Seems a little low to me (I'm no expert though). I have the heavy breather, bub 7's, and sert, and even when riding hard I've never been below 40.

My '09 avg's 33-36 mpg riding solo..but that's mostly city riding with lots of stop and go riding.

My best was 42 mpg once riding mostly highway...

I don't worry much about the mpg's...the bike runs strong and feels good so I'm happy.

My math puts 3.5 gallons consumed over 100 miles at about 29mpg, not 35. 100 miles at 35mpg works out to 2.8 gallons.
