Default Slip ons With/Without Download

We have a question and would just like to get some opinions, please no judging or making rude remarks.

If we have a set of slip ons and we do not do the breather, do we NEED to do the download?? I understand that if you do the pipes and stage 1 that the download is required but what if we just put on slip ons and nothing else??

I'm certainly no mechanic, all I can give you is advice that I was given. If you are just changing out the pipes, then no remapping or fuel pak or anything like that is needed. Changed out the stock pipes for v and H short shots and the bike sounds and runs great! However, if you change just the slipons, take the bike out for a spin and listen for a loud pop when you de-accelerate, or roll off the throttle. If you have loud pops and they don't go away after a short period of time, then you need a fuel pak or a power commander, then a re-map. Generally speaking, the advice that was given to me is if you change the air filter, you need a tuner and remap. Keep in mind, I am not a mechanic!! Good luck!

I swapped out just the mufflers and the bike had a slight popping on decel (indicating running a little lean). I put on a V&H Fuelpac and problem solved!

Nothing needed even if you change pipes and breather.

The slip-on's will be just fine without a remap or tuner. Toss them on go. The tuners job is to adjust the fuel to air mixture needed if you upgrade to a different air cleaner ie: Stage 1.

I have a 2010 FXD with the V&H Straightshot Slip On's and I rode the bike for 2 months before I did the stage one and fuel pack from Fuel Moto. No problems at all.

Thanks everyone for all the info. I think we will do that then, just throw on slip ons.
