I'm on my 2nd set of ND's. I found that running 32f and 36r works best for me on my SB riding solo. I weigh 180. I experimented with different tire pressures and when I bumped the front air to 36 and tried a panic stop, the front tire would skid/locked up. Again, this was at extreme panic mode. When at 32 the front would just stop right now. These tires stick like glue. I got 7.5k out of the 1st set, which is what I got out of the stock Dunlops. I was running 591’s front and rear and thought they worked well but if you compare them to the ND’s, the Dunlops are crap. My suggestion is to start at what Harley recommends for your bike and experiment from there to get what feels right for you.

I run the recommended pressure from the manual: 36 solo, 40 2Up. I got about 7500 miles from my current 180 60B17 on my 06 Dyna Street Bob, but I'm notoriously a little heavy on the throttle.
The tread gets eaten up wicked fast over the last 200 miles or so.
Overall - loved the tire, replacing it with the same one.

Old thread...lol. FWIW, I've changed from 40/45 to 36/42 cold psi and it feels better. The handling is still great and I ride solo only...I weigh 180.

I'll buy these same tires again...very happy with 'em.

Reviving an old thread...I just put a set on my Bob as well, 180 on rear and 110 up front. I ride solo most of the time but occasionally my chick will ride with me.

I have been wondering the same thing as I have heard without the right pressure these things wear fast. The recommended 36 front and 44 rear is what I have heard coming straight from Perelli for a cruiser. To me that is a bit on the high side, my ride home the shop had put 38 rear and 33 front and I didn't like the firm ride. I changed the pressure to what my manual recommends which is 36 rear and 30 front. I like the ride much better but don't want to wear these tires out to fast.

Can anyone who has ridden these tires and changed em out comment on pressures and wear?

Went through this with my service guy and sensed the original 30 psi spec was a mistake on HD's part. Starting at 30, any loss of air could be a real problem IMO. Front should be 35/38, rear at 40-45 which is what I run. I have almost 10K miles on mine with plenty of tread left.

Hi,

I changed to the night dragon after 2 gt502 dunlops, i am running rear at about 42-43psi cold

I have a new one in garage and measured tread depth at around 6.5mm, after 3500kms i down to 4.5mm tread depth

They definitely better tire on twisty roads for the wide glide as they taller and rounder than gt502

At the moment the price for them in Aus isnt too bad and they probably a good alternative to the gt502 dunlop, as there not much choice for the 2010+ wide glide

Thanks

I contacted Pirelli about rim sizes for the night dragon tires and they sent me the product brochure.

For the 180/60-17 they recommend 44-50 psi
