holes in exhaust other then at the ends lol are never a good thing... look at ebay, theres tons of fair priced pipes for your year model bike... pipes are very easy to change... dont forget to get some new exhaust flange gaskets...
Not sure what a cross over pipe is not it wasn't cut off the hole is on the underside of what is number 23 near number 24 in the picture.
After I replace these do I need to have the bike re tuned?
If you do a direct replacement (same type), no tuning is needed.
You could also pickup some muffler repair tape at your local auto parts store for a cheap easy fix.
Red circles in diagram show the two parts of the crossover pipe that fit together to vent each exhaust header with the other to take advantage of scavenging effects ... one of the touted effects of a 2-into-1 exhaust ....
This improves lower RPM responsiveness by emphasizing low-end torque ....
The crossover fits together below the transmission cover on the stock pipes ... behind the front headpipe as illustrated above ....
I got a complete set that I just pulled off my 2010 fatbob at the 1000 mi check up.... I would be willing to give them to you for cheap... got the original ac back plate with air cleaner also....
