Default Will Wide Glide Lowers Work In Mid Glide Trees And Tubes

I bought a set of Chrome lower legs the auction said they were for all dynas except the wide glide and when they got here they were for the wide glide. What is the differance between the two. Every thing is all stock Trees tubes and springs. when you stand them up all the bolt holes are in the same place.

The right side tubes are the same, but I think the left is different. The mounting points for the caliper are different. Everything will install fine until you go to put the wheel and rotor back on.

Caliper mounts are the same but they use different calipers. I have 3 wideglides of different years (08, 00 and 98) in my workshop and a 1999 Superglide, the lowers on all of them measure 17.25 inches from top of dust cap to bottom of axle clamp.

They use the same caliper assembly as well from 2000 on till at least 2007, part number is 44046-00D, which is a 2000 part number.
All you have to do is check part numbers in a parts catalog or go to:

http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....m_oem/hdmc.asp

Compare the part numbers for each.

The lower legs for all FXDs are the same with the exception of FXDF. The FXDF has right side brake mount and the fender holes are spaced differently. The FXDWG has longer tubes than the other FXDs. I even just put a set on a Nightster and reused the Sportster brake caliper.

Absolutely, and that is how you can put dual front discs on other Dynas as well. Just use Fat Bob lowers and caliper.

I know on the 2006 and up, the Wide Glide slider mounts the caliper more inboard by .130".
