Default Strange noise

I am usually pretty good at figuring out what is making noise on the bike but this one I could be way off base on. When I am out for a ride my hands go numb after a while and I just drop one hand at a time to my side and let the feeling come back. Well when I let go of the throttle then grab it again and roll into it I get a bang from the left side. I am assuming I need to look at my compensator but I dont want to be thinking one thing and tear the bike apart to find something else entirely wrong. Does anyone else get this noise?

If it's a 2010 isn't it under warranty? Take it to the dealer and use your warranty.

I will have it fixed under warranty, however I would like to have an idea of what is causing it. If it is indeed the compensator then changing to the SE woild only cost me for parts if it is changed under warranty.

I'm not so sure they'd give you 'free' labor to up-grade the compensator.
I don't think your hands should be going numb either, that's ussually from pretty sever vibration from the motor.

Does the "bang" sound like a piece of metal or rock hit the bottom of the primary housing? If so, it probably only happens when the engine is under load. (I assume it is because you're rolling back on the throttle from a lower RPM). If so, my bike makes the same noise. I haven't opened it up yet to look for obvious causes. Downshifting to keep the revs up before rolling hard on the throttle seems to keep it from happening. Not sure what it is, but it sure sounds like it's coming from inside the primary.

that is exactly what I am hearing, sounds like someone whacked the primary with a hammer.

From CJAIRPLANE:
The SE comp provided an obvious torque improvement between shifting, and my starts are crisp and very positive. No more of the "kick back" like somebody smacks the primary cover with a 2x4 when the starter disengages. A GREAT MOD...don't let yours fail you, it could be catastrophic. Nice write up, Sir.
