Default Hard to start when warmed up

Having a problem recently. Bike starts with zero issues when cold but if I try to start after a short stop when it is still warm it takes two or three tries.

Bike's an '08 FXDF with 5500 miles. No other issues.

I'm pretty well equipped to do my own work so troubleshooting shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for any ideas!

had the same problem, when you turn on youre run switch and you hear the fuel pump pres the start button and the bike should start with no issues. dont wait for the pump to stop pumping or you wil continue to have the same problem as i did.

hope this helps.

Rgr. I'll try it but I thought you were supposed to wait for the security and engine lights to go out before starting?

Could be. Thought it would be tough when cold too if it was the battery.

I'll have to check on replacement recommends on here.

Don't know why, but it works better not waiting, when it's still priming. I noticed since I switched to Iridium Spark plugs the warm starts are a lot better too!! Even when the fuel pump stops.

My 08 FXDF often times coughs & sounds like the starter slips a gear on hot re-starts.
The battery is new and plugs have been cleaned & re-gaped to .035-.038.
It's a mystery to me.

I had the same thing at about 800 miles, everybody on here said check the cables. they seemed tight but I put a little more on them and haven't had the problem since.
