Default purchased a 2000 FXDWG at auction need some help

hello all, this is my first HD and i am building something up for my father. I purchased this bike at auction the front end is shot. I have been reading a bunch of posts to get some information but had a couple questions.

from what i gather the DWG is a "big v-twin" with a sportster front end. is this accurate.

I believe the 2000 has a 1500cc vtwin.

I am looking for a inexpensive front end to replace the damaged parts, can i use a front off of a sportster? What fronts are interchangeable?

is the tripple stem 1"

Thanks in advance for the help, Joe

fxdwg is a dyna wideglide..it uses a 41mm wideglide front end..what is bad on it.. usually only the chrome stantion tubes bend..you can replace just the tubes and be good as new..it doesnt hurt the springs to bend inside..$100-150 on ebay..or 85ea. at the dealer..2000 is a 1450cc..a superglide is the same bike with a sportster front end

My first advice would be: buy yourself a 2000 Dyna Models Service Manual & parts catalog p/n's 99481-00 and 99439-00A. If you check Ebay, you'll find some interesting auctions.....

Once you know the p/n's you need search Ebay for interesting auctions!

Here's a link to some general info on the 2000 FXDWG.....

Have fun workink on this project and enjoy the forum!

hello, thanks for the help, the front end is mangled way too bad for a rebuild. I have found out that the 2000 FXDWG was a 3/4 in axle later was upgraded to 1in. This means that it would share the same axle size as the sportsters. What i was wondering is about the stem sizes, i think they came in 3/4 7/8 and one inch.
thanks, joe

+1 with vindyl. I'd replace with a new front end, just don't want to chance anything.
