Why isn't the Fatbob more popular
#101
Hello.....My name is Bob and I am fat! Oh and I ride a Fat Bob!
Really!
LOL....just had to! I love my Fat Bob....My first Harley and I went for it due to it's ratings on handling and performance upgrades like due front rotors setup. I have had many BMW's and Metric Sports bikes in the past and have ridden many Harley s too....but I am really liking the Fat Bob for easy cruising with Great Sound and looks!
Some one told me "Fat is where it's at!" Guess that is good huh!

I'm just curious as to why this bike (Fatbob) isn't a more popular model. I bought mine in January and just got back from my first substanial ride--700 miles in 36 hours. I have done some mods to mine...stage 1 with a Thunderheader, SERT, wide glide rear fender, progressive shocks, cams (510) and plenty of add ons. In the early 90's I had a police model FXR that I completely customized by taking off all the extra crap and made the bike as simple and sleek as possible. This bike handled the twisty's like a dream, it flat out hauled *** and just seemed to fit me. I chose the Fatbob because it seems to be the closest model to that FXR that I had. Now that I did a ride with a great combination of terrain...highway, twisty's, mountains, etc., I can honestly say this bike handles it all and has the qualities I was looking for. This being said, I am curious what everyone thinks as to why the Fatbob isn't more popular. I know many people don't like the rear fender-I didn't and thats why I switched mine to the wide glide. Some people have said they don't like the dual headlights--I happen to like this set up but again it is something than can easily be swapped out. I look forward to your input.

I bought my Fat Bob last month because I liked it. The thought of "is everybody else going to like it" never crossed my mind. Strange.

i think the Fat Bob was designed to get younger European riders in to Harley Davidson's , this has worked to some extent ,
i read some figures somewhere that its the biggest selling Harley model in the U.K and Europe , it sells more than all the other models put together or close to it ,
we in Europe like bikes to look really cool , handle well , and stop the same day as we press the brakes , so the Fat Bob is the only real Harley that makes sense to us clever people over the pond .....
America has a different market

I ride a WideGlide and have just fallen in love with and bought (yet to get) a Fatbob. I love the look of the fatter front tyre, the bars. Undecided about the dual headlights or the bobtail fender but the black lower forks also look cool.

I think it has to do with price. I got my street bob for a lot less money than I could get a fat bob for. I think the fat bob is an awesome bike. Maybe the best handling dyna that HD sells. Fat front tire. Dual disc brakes etc. Just too much money for me. Since the economy is heading down hill in a lot of places people have to watch there pennies.
