Do you ride with the baffles out? Did you have tune work done, if not have you had any issues? I think I am going to go with the Screaming Eagle Tuner.

I'm not riding the bike (it's bad winter here) I just took them out and waiting for the parts to replace them. I've read a couple of guys that have done that and apparently no tuning necessary until you change the a/c

Its still a round piece of metal. I mean, they should give it with it. I aint worth much to me, at that price you have a nice derby cover with something on it.

Here is a good link for doing the Cycle Shack baffle mod, I know your pipes are a little different, I just thought it might be helpful. I Think I might get my heat shields coated in black and do this mod.

I have the BSII with 2" rush slip-ons with no tuning and it runs fine. I talked to an S&S tech to see if I needed to get it tuned and he said that the factory system would account for it just fine. The HD dealers I talked to kept giving me different answers so that's why I called S&S. If you add hard parts then it is necessary to get a tuner and have it tuned.
