Default Speaker Question

I posted this in the Audio and Touring Sections too.

I'm really looking for some input on this. I know that most of the Dyna riders think outside the box to make things work, and my skills in the audio field leave a bit to be desired. Thanks for taking the time to read up on my system specs in advace.

Fairing: http://recklessmotorcycles.com/index...uct_detail&p=8 I'm running the 4x5" speaker model

Head Unit: Fusion MS-IP500
Here's the manual http://www.jgtech.com/pdf/MS-CD500_M..._manual_V5.pdf

Speakers: http://dcgold.com/products/classic-line/n4c/ I'm only running two

I'm looking at adding these to give me more bass WITHOUT adding and amp: https://www.madisound.com/store/prod...oducts_id=8599

I'm also looking to do this on the super cheap, hence not adding the amp and better speakers. I plan on adding the woofers (cheap speakers) to Zone 2. The output on the HU is 70w per channel. Through the HU I can link Zones 1 and 2 together for volume control. I can also adjust max volume per zone as well as HPF an LPF frequencies.

My plan is to dedicate Zone 2 to the 5" woofers and adjust Max Volume, HPF and LPF accordingly to give me a bit more bass.

Finally my question, does this sound like it would work?

for bass you are going to need a 3 way speaker, your head unit has a 70 Watts x 4 (Max)
i could not find the RMS on the listed info... but you would need to know that to find out what type of speakers you run, i would run a speaker that matches the RMS to allow you max out both and not worry about blowing the speakers... i am a huge fan of 6x9's as you get a good full range speaker and can get them to handle some power...
just so you know bass is so hard to keep in the air when moving as it vanishes in the wind SUPER fast

Thanks for the input Joe. I should have gone with 6x9's but I just can't get past the look. I think I'm gonna try it regardless, $25 for the pair isn't bad to expiriment with. I'm hoping that it'll fill just enough, concidering the existing 4" are full range. I'll post a video when I get them installed.

Check the RMS on the speaker man! with speaker s you get what you pay for $25 bucks for a set of 6x9s are going to be crap! the ones i have in my jeep where 185 for the pair, they are infinties and rip! the ones i am useing in my fairing are about the same cost but they are marine grade and have a 120 watt RMS i like my stereos to SCREAM!

Unfortunately due to the design of the inner 6x9's won't fit. I'm running the 4 5" speaker version. I know ya get what ya pay for, and I will get better speakers when I get back to work again. Just have idle hands and mind right now. Here's a vid that I shot recently of my current set-up.

ahhh did not know that the frairing would not allow for it
i buy from Sonic electronics . com all the time... they ahve great products and prices
but with 4 in speakers man there is nothing there to make bass. it is a lossing battle to be honest... you could get a small computer sub and install that in the fairing maybe make a bazooka style enclosure... also
may help to box in the speakers on the fairing if they are not, will give something for the sound to bounce off of (reason sub enclosures work)

I am quite happy with the sound and volume that I'm getting engine off, at idle or at freeway speed with my shorty or fullface on. Just looking to fill the lows a bit, kinda like a floor speaker that has separate woofers, mids and tweeters. I guess that's my logic on this. I ordered the speakers and the foam baffels that surround the backs for both the 4" and the 5". We'll see how this goes. I'm not expecting miracles, LOL!

Or you could put saddlebags on it and put 6x9 marine speakers in the lids, similar to the Cycle Sounds system. Trust me, the sound kicks butt. Just ask Dr V-twin. I can hear his a full block away crystal clear
