I think you mean "heim". A Hemi is an engine design.

You can use the same ones that you used on your touring model. They're pretty much universal, you just have to get the size/thread count right. I think stock is 1/4-20. Correct me if I'm wrong.

he's talking about the joints on the ends of your shift linkage. The factory design is simalar to a Ball Joint of a car and a Heim joint is just another style of joint. We use big hiem joints for the suspension and steering links on our rock crawlers cause they allow more movement then the ball joint style.... I have no clue what benefits they would have in you're shift linkage since there is very little movement....looks, I guess.

I haven't seen em on a Dyna

Actually, after you get about 30K plus miles on the stockers, they tend to break apart. Switching to Heim joints eliminates the risk of your gear shift not shifting when you're 500 miles from home...

At least, that's what I've heard, never happened to me...nope, nothing to see here, move along...

I could see them lasting longer, there's less to wear out so that makes sense. And there will be less play in a worn out heim then a worn out ball joint so it would always get ya home.... then again, the ball joint is a wearable item so I guess general maintenance will also get ya home. I'll have to look at mine, I'm just over 29K for mileage
