Softail or Dyna? Need your opinion
I have a Softail (2006 Heritage FLST) that I love. But I haven't been able to keep my eye off the Street Bob, black denim, for the last few months. And now, the dealer has made me a really good offer, using my softail as a trade for a new Street Bob, and I'm seriously considering it.
My questions for Street Bob owners, or all Dyna owners really, are this:
How's the bike for 2-up riding? About half my riding is 2-up. I'm 170, the wife is about 140. Obviously, it won't be a softail, but are there issues?
How's the Street Bob for long-distance riding?
Thanks for your opinions...

I ride an 07 Bob 2up all the time. I weigh 224, wife weighs 118. Wasn't that comfortable until I bought a Mustang seat and did the front motor mount preload space washer shim. (also put in a new front motor mount, the old one was deformed looking) The shock mounted Dynas have a stretched rubber mount OEM that tends to wear out the front mount prematurely and causes vibration issues on some bikes (like mine).
After that it was much smoother above 50 mph. Other than that don't know, it's kinda your decision. Saddlebags don't fit as snug to the fender on shock bikes as softails. There are some kits that recess an area of the bags for the shock to fit into. You generally always have to relo the rear signals for bags.
Too bad you didn't win the lottery, you could keep the softail and buy the Bob.

Get the Street Bob. I ride quite a bit of 2-up. I am 6'4" and weigh about 230#. My girl is 5'11" and weighs about 155# (hope she doesnt see this). The bike has no problem with this. You may wasnt to swap out for progressive shocks or something a little better than stock. I still have not done this, but plan to soon.

Part of the answer to this question could be above as well. The stock seat feels like riding on a rock covered with leather. You should either get a gel foam insert installed or swap seats. I went with the Mustang Vintage Solo and matching pillion. Prior to this my a$$ would hurt after about 90 to 100 miles. Now i can ride all day without even noticing the seat. Also on long distance, if you are used to a windsheil get one. I personally do not loke them and do not use them. Then again I usually don't ride more than 300 miles s day either. Oh, and dont forget the Bob comes with stock mid controls, so you will need to swap them out for forwards.
Get the Bob, you will love it!

As much as I like my Dyna more than both Soft Tails that I've owned I don't think I would trade if your softie is well sorted out. The Dyna is a good bike for many things but it's not really great at any one thing. Two up cruising is definitely not it's strong suit. It can be done but probably not better than what you have.
