Powdercoating Mag Wheels = Safe???
Is it "safe" to powdercoat the mag style wheels found on the dynas and sportsters? Ive read about some horror stories with aluminum/magnesium wheels and how the temperature from curing the powder makes them brittle. Any thoughts before I do this? I know they make a "low-temp" powder as well.

Check with the Joe the Powder Pro here on the forum....He does really nice work and he should be able to answer all of your questions. He did some work on my brothers bike and it came out awesome.... He is JRK5892 on the forum....

Joe, Do you powder coat over chrome? Local shop says they have to blast it first and if it flakes you have to have it chemically stripped. I didn't think you could chemically strip chrome off of aluminum without eating up the aluminum.

sometimes it needs stripped sometimes it doesnt... sometimes we have to chem strip on occasion we can blast. depends on the part, media, and pressure when blasting... we specialize in custom coatings and bike parts so we handle it all!
*** it is only heated to 400 for like 30-45 min bud... not going to cause structrue issues at all
