Apartment dwellers with Harleys
Kinda curious to see if I'm the rare guy on this one...
Any apartment dwellers on here who, by the terms of the lease, cannot bring their bike inside.... so therefore it stays in the elements (covered parking) year round? If so, what precautions can you take for winterizing?
Thanks.

I manage 4 apartment buildings and it says nothing about motorcycles in the unit in our leases which I consider to be pretty thorough. I guess our property management company has yet to meet me! LOL. I have a unit for rent. Fill the living room with bikes for all I care. Just know that your depsoit might not be coming back to you.

Yeah, I guess it must be a Texas thing... at least here in the DFW area. I haven't found many apartments that will let you do it. Of course, at the moment I don't have a bike, but it was one of those things that I started thinking about...
I'll probably go with a good cover then. Texas weather, even in the dead of winter, doesn't get that bad. Cold, maybe, if you consider 18-30 degrees cold; nothing like up north. Still, doing my research now so that I don't have to be dumb later.... doh!
Thanks to all for the responses. I appreciate it.

I'm planning to pick up a new Harley in 2 weeks and my plan was to put it in a storage unit when the winter months come around. its around $70 a month. plus my bro "bf" is buying one right after me so we talked about sharing it. that way it would only be like $35 a month. thats for a enviromental controlled unit at 5X10.
my other option before friend said he would get one if i did was i notice there are about 5 other bikers in my nieborhood and when the winter comes i never see their bikes so i was gonna sk them what they do and if i could pitch in for coverage if it was available.
Also its not just the weather im concerned about i dont trust any mtherfkers!

I've moved around a bit and always lived in apartments. Never took it inside the apt, as I've never needed to, nor would I want to (always either elevators or stairs).
But in my current place, I can't keep it at the condo due to condo regime (association) rules; no bikes allowed on the property. So like you, I keep it in a storage unit a mile up the road. I pay like $100 a month, but it's worth it. Keeps the salt off (I'm right on the water), and it's more secure.
