Default hey Sharkey...

Hi...
you probably don't know me, I'm not on here too much.

But I wonder if you could give me some advice.

We both have FXDXT's....not too many do. Mine's a 2001.

I've put Progressive springs on the front end...I bottom out on rebound with stock weight oil (10 wt, I think).

Next, Rear suspension....I've kept it stock...tried all positions of adjustments, solo and two-up, don't bottom out with a 150-lb passenger, but still doesn't handle too well

BTW, stock 88-in Twin-cam, looking to go 95-in. Maybe mild cams.

Looking at a fork brace (wish I had 49-mm forks and trees) but I don't think I have enough travel.

I'm an easy rider, but I don't want that feeling of being unsure in the corners, ya dig?

I would sure appreciate your advice...

Thanks, Tony

Thanks for the kind words Mongoose; mine's also a 2001...

1. Bottom out on rebound? You would bottom out on compression and top out on rebound...anyhow, there are adjustments for both on your front forks. Don't have a factory service manual? How about a friendly dealer?

2. Whats your rebound setting on the back shocks? It adjusts from 1 - 5; try 3 or 4. Set the pre-load according to your weight/suspension sag. Again; instructions in the service manual

How much do you weigh? Has the bike had a chassis alignment/front fork fall-away check? A 2001 is, after all, getting to be 10 years old...what is it "doing" that makes you say it dosen't handle well? Wallowing in curves? Weaving at speed?

Ride careful and enjoy but do some reading on your bike; maybe Goggle.....
