what exactly do the spacers do? meaning do they make the bike lower, or do they raise it back some over just running to "lower" springs.

also how did it affect the kickstand problem? my 2010 sits pretty straight up as it is and i have the drop in kit and 11' 412s ordered and on the way.

Lowering only the rear will reduce trail, which will make it more twitchy and less stable at speed. Measuring the drop shouldn't be done unloaded. You should have a friend of similar weight sit on it to get a reliable measurement.
