Default 08+ air cleaner/victory high-ball

Hey guys. I really like the look of the round air cleaners. The 08+ bikes all have the teardrop backing plate. I want to build my own cover like many of you have but am unsure what to do with the backing plate. Will a used round one from a previous year work? Oh and have you guys seen this bike? Great now we all have to go back to chrome!!

I use 29586-06. It's the S/E Backplate in black. Ordered all the parts on the install sheet separately, and happened to have an extra K&N 0800 laying around.

+1 - just use the older, round SE backplate and parts. That's what I did - I'm running a Zippers filter and the cover is just a standard round AC cover from Harley that I painted black.

V+H has a "naked" round high flow filter that comes without a cover leaving the option up to the buyer.

I used an Arlen Ness big sucker with the stock cover for a while. One day while at the hardware store I came across a saw blade that I thought would fit. Sure enough, it was the same diameter as the free element. I slapped it on there and have had several complements on it. Good thing was that it only cost $12.00.

Sweet thanks guys. Very helpful. Didnt know that the round one would just bolt up. Turbostang hit me up on how much you want for that filter. I may be interested.

1+ Dumped the tears for a round. Had it powdered, along with a chrome round cover, in wrinkle black. Be sure to replace the 2 O-Rings on the backplate!

Which filter does that backing plate use the HD-0800?

I was describing what I did. Ya can't have the filter off my bike! I think I got it off j&p or amazon for ~$50. It was going to be a spare, until I totaled the Street Bob and needed one for the new Fat Bob.

Just throwing this out there... I went with a stock air cleaner from a Cross Bones... it's round and didn't require re-map or any of that jazz. Of course if you're doing this mod for more than looks then this isn't for you
