the part# 60782-06 in that auction is also a good #
.
so the two good #s are
60782-06
60764-06

I only guessing here -
one number is forward control
the other mid control

If you do a search for 60784-06 on ebay or google, it consistently comes up as a part for a softail or 06 and later dyna. Although the listing that I posted says differently, iftyou look at the number engraved on the cover in the pic actually says 60784-06 so I trust that more than anything. I know the part numbers that SUPPOSEDLY fit the Fat Bob, but Harley's catalog, online web site, and my local dealers parts counter have let me down before, so I was hoping to find someone with some experience on this one.

Question

Alright, here's the definitive answer that you've been waiting for...

60784-06 WILL fit your bike (it's an 06 or later Fat Bob with forward control, right?)

I just replaced my chrome primary cover with a wrinkle black one (P/N 60717-07 which fits 07 and later Softails and 06 and later Wide Glide and Fat Bob with forward controls)

SO.... since 60717-07 fits on my bike (09 Rocker) and it fits the same as 60784-06 which was on my bike (I just went out to the garage to check the part no.), 60784-06 will also fit your bike.

Wanna buy mine?

Hmm, that info is good enough for me. Send me a PM with a price you'd be looking to get for it along with some pics of it, showing any inperfections it may have, if any.

Thanks for all your help in this thread guys!

BTW Micahpop,

I just checked out your album, and I gotta say, nice job on your Rocker. That's how they should look. If Harley had made them look more like that from the factory, they might not be discontinuing them for 2012.

I appreciate everyones help on this one. I won a used one in mint condition on ebay for 86 bucks including shipping. Here's the link to the auction I won, in case you wanted to let me brag :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I'm pretty excited that I found one in such great shape. Seems that most of the ones I came across had scratches and/or digs in them. Now how the hell do you install one of these?

Sounds like a great deal. Without my manual in front of me I'd say drain primary fluid. Unbolt and remove derby cover. Unbolt and remove outer primary cover. Install new cover with a new gasket. Fill primary with fluid. Install derby cover with new gasket. Torque to proper spec which I don't have in front of me.

Why not just strip the powder off of yours and polish it out. Polished aluminum looks real good.

Well folks, the confusion is over. Harley pulled a fast one on us. So, as I said, I ordered the chrome primary cover off ebay with the part number 60784-06. I finally did the install today. Guess what part number my stock wrinkle black primary cover had stamped on it. 60784-06!! It seems like HD uses that part number for its stock covers in this case, regardless of outer finish, and has different part numbers for the accessory ones. Kinda weird, but it's nice to finally put this one to bed. And I'm gonna ***** off the pic a little too:
