Default Touring tank on a FXDCI

I bashed in my tank pretty good recently and will be replacing it soon. I saw this tank on Craigslist.

http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/mcy/2142359949.html

I've seen a few post of people thinking about swapping out for a touring tank, but haven't found one of someone actually doing it. Has anyone put a tank from a touring model on a Dyna? If so could you post some pics?

Thanks

I don't know. That seems like a lot for a stripped down tank with "scratches". Would a direct bolt on wide glide tank (5.1 gallons) not be enough fuel. Seems like a 6 gallon monster might look a tad out of place on a Dyna. Just sayin'.

i agree... as nice as it would be to have 6 gallons of go on board i dont think it will look all that nice with a bulbous tank on there. but that just MY take on it.

Oh wasn't going to give 300 for it, thinking more like offering 100 since it's only the tin. I'd be repainting it as well. Riding from NV to OK there are a couple stretches around 200 miles where it can be a little sketchy on finding filling stations. Having a 300 mile range would add to my comfort level.

The size is unnerving, that's why I wanted to see photos if anyone has done it.

I contemplated it for a while before swapping my FXD tank out in favor of a FXDL tank ... seemed to be a lot more plentiful on e-Bay ....

The increased capacity was a big attraction to me, too ....

I don't think the size difference would be that big of a deal ... the challenge is to adapt the mounts to the Dyna frame .... I didn't think it would be that hard to overcome that challenge ....

From a size perspective, the overall dimensions (wheelbase, length, height) are not appreciably different between Dyna and Touring models ....

It occurs to me it might need to be mounted back a little because the Touring steering head extends further forward than the Dyna's ... may be a potential issue with clearing the forks in a hard turn to either side ....

I am interested in a swap like that too. Here in eastern Montana fuel can get mighty scarce at times. Will be watching this one close.
