Default Anybody running a bolt on hard tail like this??

Looking for feedback on this type of hardtail.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOLT-...Q5fAccessories

Not the solid struts that replace the shocks......

Some advantages that I see are....
Easy bolt on
Frame retains the original serial number
Possibility to go back to swing arm??

What are disadvantages? I realize a weld on is stronger, but doesnt give thw option of going back to swingarm.

Does anyone have any pictures of this style they can post on a finished bike? Does it look like its done right, or an afterthought?

Thanks

I think that this is a weld at the top and a bolt at the bottom. I like the look of hard tails but the abuse that your back and the punanny that is riding with you is rough. Nothin like beatin it up before you get it home to try and beat it up some more!! I promised my ol lady I would never get a Pu**Y beater. Unless this is your barhopper, dont plan on ridin any chics to long on it.

That is a weld on hard tail kit. That place always has really low prices.

get a full roller and build it right...

1st of all do a search on the seller.......They have not so good a reputation here on the forum (just say'n)

Personally, I would find a rigid frame that allows you to bolt everything over, they are usually stretched a touch to give better ride than bolt/weld on's ..........just my dos centavo's.

+1

With all the stuff you're going to have to modify or replace just to "bolt on" the hardtail, you're better off just starting with a roller.

There is something weird about turning a Dyna into a hardtail.....it just doesn't set right.

Even when done, with the way that hardtail is configured on the bottom portion, it won't give you the hardtail look you're going for. I think it will look more like a Softail (with none of the advantages.)

Greetings from Sweden!

I know that this is an old thread but when I was thinking about hard tailing my Dyna I ended up here and got really depressed reading the comments.

I ended up doing it anyway...

This is my 93 FXDWG and I bought the weld/bolt on kit and 3 degree cups for the fork.
I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Next mod might be a beefier rear wheel!
