I traded my 05 883 on an 06 Fxdli.........I love the lowrider........no problems.

ORIGINAL: Mechanic

Anyone with an 07 Dyna. I'm considering an upgrade from my 883R to a Dyna. To many folks on the Sportster page who don't own a bigger bike have been dissing the 07's for problems. YOU own one. What do you think? Are you happy with it? Want to hear it from you rather than the salesman. Thanks for the help. Dave

I went from a 2004 1200r Stage I to a 2005 FXDI. When I initially took the FXDI for a test ride I was quite underwhelmed with the BT power. I couldn't understand what the big fuss of a BT was compared to the Sporty.

However after owning my 2005 FXDI for 18 months and after riding it more than 23,000 miles I could not be happier. I love my Dyna. It is a comfortable bike and yet it still handles well enough. I do not need the extra power of the 96ci but the six speed would be nice but not nice enough to consider trading in.

As far as a 2007 it seems that the touring bikes are the ones having the tranny problems not the Dynas.

I've ridden my friends Sporty and my brothers Dyna. Dyna handles as well, at least as quick and much more room.

I've had some conversations with the Sporty guys. They spout some innacuracies about the BT's. They claim the Sporty is faster. I tried to show them that acceleration figures have a Dyna (or a light softail) and a Sporty virtually the same. Me thinks its a bit of BT envy.

KeithB,
Have you ever ridden/owned a sportster? I dont think youve felt the torque / speed of a XL1200 stage 1 Sportster. Ive stomped many Mud Holes in several 06 and 07 Dyna's asses with my 06 XL1200L . They get there much faster than a Dyna IMHO. Sportsters are pure raw power and speed. Dynas on the other hand have great accel but are soooo much smoother and 100 x more comfortable, I believe they will out handle the Sportster as well. I Loved my Sportster but I wouldnt Trade My Bob for nuttin

Whatever you get just make sure you get what you want. I bought a '07 Vivid Black Superglide and wish I had spent a few more dollars on a Street Bob. I am only 5'6" and looking for a possible handlebar change for reach purposes already.

I may have been the first on the board to take actual delivery of an '07 Dyna - and I posted my first impressions here. I've only got just over 1300 miles on it but I've been very happy with it - no strange tranny noises or nuthin'. (And with the exception of the windshield, backrest and rack, it's still completely stock.)

my $.02

i have about 2100 miles on my 07 superglide. absolutly no problems. i love it. i took a 3 day trip to michigan UP a couple weeks ago and averaged 44 MPG....which i didnt think was too bad. as far as the tranny noise i expect that it is because all the gears are moving in 5th gear. to me the noise is just gear noise, nothing to be concerned about. my 06 sporty had a ton of tranny noise and combined with the gear driven cams and the noisy top end it made my dyna seem quiet. the only problem that i will eventually tackle is that it is running quite lean (as most FI Harleys do). i asked my service manager to do a parade remap and he said he'd take a look but i decided that it didnt run too bad and they might screw up more than they could fix so i never took it back. you will not be sorry with an 07 dyna....good luck

1185 miles in 2 weeks, runs great. I do have a minor idle - clutch adjustment issue when cold. This only started as weather got cooler, so i have to let it warm up longer i guess.
