Default Windshield/Windvest for Wide Glides??

Ok..

I am looking for a small shield, just enough to break the freezing air I'll be riding through in a couple short months. Part of the problem is most are for one-inch bars and I have 1-1/4. Another is finding one that is detatchable. I don't mind spending money for what I want, but I don't want to spend a fortune, since this is not going to be used a lot.

The Super Sport shield by HD is still an option, but I need more opinions.

Anyone using a small one? I don't need to be able to read a newspaper or smoke a cigarette behind it..

I've got the windvest brand on mine and it does just fine, knocks enough of the wind off that I can run comfortably at eighty. You have to remove a coupla allen head bolts to remove the shield, but that takes no time and I think you can get the brackets for one and a quarter bars. If you're like me you'll probably just leave it on all the time. Took mine off for a coupla days and put it right back on.

Good Luck

Tom

I have the Harley super sport detatchable but I cut it down three inches. I am 5'8" and now I can look over the top of the shield even when slouching. Still makes my beard fly up in my face so I wear a tie to keep it down. A sabre saw and a file are all that is needed to cu the shield.

Well, after a bit more research I think I am down to just the HD SS. Not quite what I wanted looks wise, but it does what I want it to.

Dammit!

What type of saddlebads are those on your WG. I like the look. Are you happy with them?

I'm curious about the bags too. Did you get the zip-on/off yoke? Also, is there actually a zipper or something under the flap or does it close only with the buckles?

Thanks for posting the web site on the bags. Do you use them with the mounting brackets? If so how does it match up with your backrest side plates. I have HD quick detachable side plates on my WG and would like to keep that option on. Also, did you have to relocate your rear turn signals? Thanks in adavance for your help.

Here is my wideglide with the 16X16 windvest. I really like the shield because it keeps the wind off of my chest and reduces the wind in my face. I had a memphis fats on it before but when riding at 50 mph or above it was like a big sail on the front making it hard to control. With the windvest it just cuts right through the wind and riding 80 mph or more no problem.

MadMech what size bars are those thinking of going to 16 inch wild1's. Didn't know how they would look with the windvest but looks great!
