The reason I asked is I think I do 3k @ 70MPH on my stock 5 speed, but no way for me to confirn in the cold north right now. It's because of highway speeds that I would not go to a 30t on a 5 speed.

I have a 31 tooth on my 5 speed and it is perfect for highway Shift point for 5th gear is at 55 mph and it gives just a little better torque at 70, cruising at 85 is no problem, if I remember right 80 is right at 3000 rpm. But it has been a while since I cruised on the highway due to the cold weather lately.
30 tooth would only be about 250 rpm higher. I went with the 31 so I would not be screaming the motor at 90 which it will also easily cruise at on the highway.
When we went to the Dragon back in August I was still getting as high as 47 mpg and could quickly and easily pass on the backroads.
If you make the swap, check your belt real close and change it while you are in the if it has any nicks, mine had some.

I have an SE 21T kit on my 2003 FXDXT and love it. Gearing is just under 20mph per 1,000rpm. Stock sprocket is 25T and a 23T will give you similar gearing to a 30T pulley.

Funny thing ... I inadvertently 'geared down' to nearly the equivalent of a 30-tooth rear drive pulley when I swapped out my stock primary drive to a belt drive ...
As a frame of reference for my 2005 FXDI, the following applies:
Drive sprocket on motor 25
Sprocket on clutch basket 36
Drive pulley on trans 32
Pulley on rear wheel 70
Works out to a final 1:1 in 5th gear of 3.15
With a 30-tooth drive pulley on the trans, the final drive ratio would be 3.36

I swapped out my stock primary to a BDL internal belt drive ... the drive pulley on the motor has 45 teeth and the clutch pulley has 68 teeth ...
The final drive ratio then--with the stock final drive 32 / 70--works out to 3.306 ... so, I inadvertently geared down ....

Also, just another observation ... the speedometer sensor is mounted in the transmission ... thus, swapping out the drive sprocket in the primary will not affect the speedometer readout ... the same would not be true if you swap out the final drive pulley ....
